The good ship Portico sets sail once more for a night of nautical mayhem with the awesome SEA SHANTY CHOIR plus BBC award winning pirate band THE SALTS, Ceilidh dancing with guest pirate caller, grog, rum punch and an anamatronic shark or two!
We’ve got some very special stowaways next Friday 20th November for our Pirate Ceilidh including The Salts (pictured) – “Twenty first century folk fires a respectful broadside at the traditional”
We’ve also got the stupendously talented Sea Shanty Choir and Ceilidh Tree with pirate caller and some nautical dances! Tickets are starting to run low and we do expect this event to sell out fairly shortly – if you’re planning to board, booking soon is highly recommended! www.folkofthewood.co.uk
Discount tickets for our regulars available at www.folkofthewood.co.uk/subscribers.html – it’s £7 adults, £5 concessions and £4 under 18s. Thereafter it’ll be £9 / £7 / £6 & more on the door.Oooharghh!
Sunday 6th September as part of West Norwood FEAST, The Portico Gallery will be hosting Retro village – a number of eclectic and affordable stalls – in place of Rosebery’s this month.
And as usual we’ll be showcasing its wares on Sunday 6th Sept as part of West Norwood FEAST – 10am to 4pm.
From our super-cool Mambista nights to our fun-filled Folk & ceilidh evenings; our gentle and popular Tea Dance, our multi-faceted FEAST Film nights and our new open-mic Cut-A-Rug evenings.
We’ll also be promoting a host of classes available at the Gallery, such as singing, pottery, life-drawing, sewing, yoga, Zumba and Qi Gong.
FAR-OUT! We’re gearing up for our 1960’s inspired Summer of Love Ceilidh on the evening of Fri 15th May – a feast of psychedelic, blissed out goodness! Groovy times abound with far-out sounds from Simo Lagnawi master of morroccan Gnawa music. There’ll also be a tranced-out set of dancing with The Wild Hunt Bedlam – it’s morris, Jim, but not as you know it! Ceilidh Tree & caller will be providing a loved-up psychedelia-infused ceilidh.
This will be the last ceilidh before the summer break and it’s set to be a mind bendingly spectacular affair – miss it at your peril! Full details at www.folkofthewood.co.uk
It’s £9 Adults, £7 Concessions and £5 under 18s – thereafter it’ll be £10, £8, £6 on the door – if available as we often sell-out before the gig.
