Our Mambista nights are a totally fabulous way to groove the night away – and we always have loads planned for the fourth Friday of the month in the warm embrace of the Portico Gallery.
We’re back on Fri 27th November and the evening kicks off again with Newton’s Salsa dance class at 7pm to loosen up those limbs and get boogie-ing!
The Portico Gallery Bazaar – 10am to 4pm, Sunday 5th July
The theme for this month’s bazaar is FITNESS…. There’ll be demonstrations from our new Zumba teacher at the Gallery, Ori-Shemma. Demos will be held at 12 noon and 1.30pm in the Gallery’s main hall downstairs.
STOP PRESS…. And don’t forget to check out Pete W from Soul Night & Gerry Lyseight from Mambista who join forces to spread some DJ love to visitors of West Norwood FEAST in an outdoor festival vibe from their perch at the health and well-being hub outside the Health & Leisure Centre. Chill out in the park with an epic london view, some fine food and a playground for kids of all ages.
The Portico Gallery hosts Mambista night on the 4th Friday of every month. To find out more go to….

The Portico Gallery Bazaar – 10am to 4pm, Sunday 7th June
The theme for this month’s bazaar is DANCE….
There’ll be performances and demonstrations of various aspects of this fascinating art form including: Flamenco, Latin Folk Dance, Free Dance and more besides.
The main area in the Gallery, the downstairs large hall, will be used for the dance demonstrations. So the space available for stalls is limited to the entrance and the Gallery shop – approx. ten stalls, so first come, first served….so BOOK YOUR STALL NOW!!
Stalls cost £40 for the day. You can set up from 8 o’clock in the morning of the day.
As usual the bazaar will be held on the day of West Norwood Feast – the event that attracts thousands of visitors all of which can come to The Portico Gallery. So there’s plenty of opportunity to display and sell your wares. This Bazaar has the added bonus of an extra-special Dance theme and so is going to be particularly popular. Don’t miss this chance……

FAR-OUT! We’re gearing up for our 1960’s inspired Summer of Love Ceilidh on the evening of Fri 15th May – a feast of psychedelic, blissed out goodness! Groovy times abound with far-out sounds from Simo Lagnawi master of morroccan Gnawa music. There’ll also be a tranced-out set of dancing with The Wild Hunt Bedlam – it’s morris, Jim, but not as you know it! Ceilidh Tree & caller will be providing a loved-up psychedelia-infused ceilidh.
This will be the last ceilidh before the summer break and it’s set to be a mind bendingly spectacular affair – miss it at your peril! Full details at www.folkofthewood.co.uk
It’s £9 Adults, £7 Concessions and £5 under 18s – thereafter it’ll be £10, £8, £6 on the door – if available as we often sell-out before the gig.
