At the heart of Joyce’s practice is an interest in human behaviour; relationships, how people communicate, social issues, relationships and identity. She is curious with how these ideas correspond with the source of being.
These subjects and questions motivate her to transform findings, thoughts and dialogue to communicate and share, to question our conditioning and structure relating to time and linear concepts. Her expression and examination is to look beyond the limited boundaries relating to identity and see what occurs in a place of unknowing.
To translate these concepts she often works with body forms, which allow her to explore the sense of movement within her work. Joyce uses mixed media and more recently she has experimented with collage and various substrates. For the past two years she has worked the urban landscape as a street artist – this being her favourite canvas – as it allows her an immediate display and interaction with the viewer.
