Chrissy Thirlaway

Chrissy uses the human form to examine the tensions between light and colour, culture and emotion. Her portraits express less acknowledged body forms encouraging thought about how we are affected by our social values.


Chrissy was awarded a BA in Fine Art fromMaidstone College of Art, a Post graduate Art teachers at Middlesex Polytechnic, and an HND in print administration fromLondon College of Printing. She is a drawing tutor at London’s Putney School of Art and Portico Gallery, London and has produced freelance graphic design and limited edition screen prints for likes of Harrods, Heals, Fortnum & Mason. Chrissy is also part of the Steering group for South London Women Artists.


She has studios in Brixton and LA and her work is represented in collections across the world including Britain, USA, Brazil, Qatar, France and Portugal.


In 2014, Chrissy’s work will be on show in the following group exhibitions; Urban Art, Josephine Ave, Brixton, London (13th/14th July 2014), Lambeth Open at The Portico Gallery London (October) and Finders Keepers Losers Weepers, Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, London (1 – 30 November).
