Our next Ceilidh put on by ‘Folk of the Woods‘ will occur on the eve of Friday 21st November.

You know the score by now, and if you don’t you should come and find out the score as the score is that it is a truly fantastic family occasion! (doe’s that all make sense?)

But yes, local food, local beer, amazing music and a guaranteed  amazing night out.

It contains up to the minute info on a whole load of local art news as well as some amazing creative writing. We would like your articles, thoughts, poems, reviews or suggestions for the next one which is due to be published early spring!

Bazaar & Resident Artist event

This weekend sees the return of our Bazaar that coincides with the West Norwood Feast.

If you would like a stall please contact us via on 0208761 7612.

If you have never been to a Baazar before then you are in for a treat. We have local makers and creators selling all kinds of interesting gift ideas. In the past we’ve had writers, chocolates, mexican tin toys, cushions, paintings, prints, pottery and much more!

 

As well as the Stalls our artist in residence, Doomtube, (a.k.a Phil Beeken) to concede with Samhain/all saints day/Halloween/Winter Nights/Thesmophoria etc  will open The ongoing art installation project ‘The Centre For Ritual Occult Studies’ to the public. This acclaimed installation will feature new film works as well as a few extras.

 

So this weekend at the Gallery looks to be shaping up to a good couple of days..

The bazaars are open on the same day as West Norwood’s fabulous Feast,
so there are bound to be lots of people in the town and lots of visitors to
the bazaar.
Come early to grab the best.
The Portico Gallery bazaars are Indoors, warm, dry, comfortable and with plenty of room for everyone.
This bazaar there will be live piano music.

Come along on Sunday between 10am and 4pm and join the fun.

Folk of the Wood

Friday 17th October Here with us…

October’s ceilidh event is set to be a corker as we’ll be welcoming back americana band No Coward Soul starring Alaskan frontman Brad Schmauss and showcasing legendary morris dance side Northwood Morris.

There will also be three lively ceilidh dancing sets courtesy of fab folk dance band Ceilidh Tree with blazing fiddles, melodeon, foot stomping scottish and irish folk tunes for dancing and our masterful caller to show you the moves – details at www.ceilidhtree.co.uk

Support comes from youth folk troupe the Green Ravens and there’ll be a fully licensed bar with craft ale, scrumpy, wine, and, we’re excited to announce fab local deli Beamish & McGlue will be laying on a mix of delicious vege, meat and gluten free soup, stews and cakes!

Portico Picture Palace in conjunction with Feast Film nights will screen the stone cold classic that is “The Big Lebowski”.

White Russians. Dressing gowns. Bowling. Toes. Nihilists. Rugs…. need we say more?

 

Well we will, but a bit closer to to the time. Do though, watch this space for more information on an entire season of bi-weekly screenings here with us in conjunction with West Norwood Feast

We now have a fully licensed bar that will be serving the famous ‘white russian’ throughout the evening, as well as cinema style snacks. Fancy dress? -of course yes! and there may even be a Lebowski themed prize for best fancy dressed Dude, or Dudess. We are pretty excited about this one so get down here for a fantastic night and watch a great film on the big screen!

Just a quick post. Thank you all for coming to our hosting of the Lambeth Open here over the weekend. You made it truly a fantastic event.
