Arisa Tabaku

In 2010 I graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Tirana, specialising in Monumental Painting.  The same year I commenced my studies at the University of the Arts London.

I live in London and paint Landscapes, Seascapes and Portraits. I have painted since a very early age. My inspiration is drawn from the beautiful nature and my memories of the places I have visited. My recent work is inspired from everyday life, nature, landscapes, and the contrast of colours about the changing seasons.  For this reason the style of my paintings is natural. I always follow what I deeply feel in myself. I like to use clear colours that come from finesse and elegance of my style. I paint in oil, mainly on canvas.

I am totally inspired and moved by the stunning beauty of nature and particularly the landscape. I like the daily changes in light and weather which provide a wealth of ever-shifting atmospheric subjects for me to paint. I like to work direct from nature where possible, producing oil sketches that capture the fleeting moments of time and season. These sketches, along with drawings and written colour notes made on the spot, are the information from which I work to produce more finished studio paintings. As a landscape painter I strive to capture, not just the look of a landscape, but more importantly, the experience of being there.

My work is all about capturing the moment, when nature reveals a second of striking beauty in a landscape. I love to express the intensity of these moments through my brushwork and colour palette. In capturing them in the painted surface, I seek to enrich the viewer’s emotional experience of the world we live in.
